President Palin???

John McCain has been a fine Senator in many ways. But, look at this photo from the GOP Convention. I'm sorry, but he looks, even with makeup, like a man waiting for a successor. And that successor, in his risky and negligent judgment, would be small town former mayor Sarah Palin.
Hypothetical: Prime Minister Putin authorizes the Russian Navy to seize the ports of Crimea, and declares that this part of Ukraine is once again Russia.
President Palin, following a "yup, yup," takes in all of the facts. "Well," she says, "when the moose started getting into the garbage cans in Wasilla, we strung bells around the cans to scare them away." She elaborated, "I understand Russians, having lived right next door to those people."

Palin's reliable sidekick/enforcer husband and "First Dude" Todd, now shadow Secretary of State, states, "let's kick Putin's Roosky a**."
The shadow Secretary of State, after a rough night of Humpy's Sockeye Reds The world, believing that eight years of Bush/Cheney was just a bad dream, wakes up to a nightmare....

Better be careful dismissing the Republicans. They may not talk real issues, and they have no problem re-inventing the last 8 Years of Republican control and governance as "control by the liberals and media!" But they do culture wars very well and will lie and use half truths to their advantage whenever necessary. In that, they may be smarter than the Democrats who don't want to offend anyone and end up defending no one. Work hard to get the Dems elected.. sign up voters, do whatever. This cannot be lost through smugness.

Someone active with Internet blogging needs to pursue the Alaska cessation angle. It seems obvious to me that there is a hidden agenda in the McCain/Palin ticket to get their hands on Alaska's natural resources by removing US federal protections. Can Palin grease the wheels of cessation as VP? What are the implications of a successful Alaska cessation effort?
